One of the things that can help the most in life is to be aware of our limits, to face reality with a humble and simple posture to recognize that our essence is needed, just like a beggar.

There is a mistaken paradigm of the entrepreneur, of the political leader, and even of any worker or professional: self-sufficiency and omnipotence. There are very close examples of this. We think that we have a kind of vaccine that makes us autoimmune and it is not true.

When we are faced with recent natural catastrophes, or economic, social, and political crises, our disproportion is evident: the solution does not lie in messianism but in becoming aware of the responsibility of each one of us. When an entrepreneur is aware of his limits, a large part of the problem is already solved because he sets himself in motion and asks for help, exchanges opinions, and is attentive to suggestions.

“The entrepreneur is not an entrepreneur because he has all the answers but because he observes reality very well to see the opportunities, and he has to listen to everyone to verify if these opportunities are true, and then to know how to face them”, says my friend Bernhard Scholz, President of the Company of the Works, and goes on to point out that “an entrepreneur gives a direction, but he is stronger when he is able to involve others”; this is why he points out that two of the key characteristics of the entrepreneur are humility and perseverance.

The size of the crisis we have in Venezuela demands a lot of humility to value everyone’s points of view; and then to have the temperance to persevere and work.

An example of this was the inauguration of the first phase of the chocolate laboratory-school in Valencia, which was achieved after 3 years of work together with our friends from Fe y Alegría, Cavenit, María Fernanda di Giacobbe, Armando Canelón, Chocolates Canoabo, Fundación Bancaribe and many other allies.

We are just another part of the whole, collaborating to build something bigger and each one has value regardless of the type of work we do.

Venezuela will change when we all start to be more humble and then our limits will open us more and more to work with others. If we add to that a dose of perseverance and remove a pinch of improvisation, we will be on the right track to building a more humane country.
