On February 14, the French ambassador to Venezuela, Romain Nadal, and the first counselor of the embassy, Alexandra Beyaller-Roille, visited the Casa de Caridad Santa Ana, headquarters of Caritas Carúpano, and the local office of Trabajo y Persona, in order to have more detailed knowledge about the projects developed in that locality: Venezuela Tierra de Cacao, and Emprendimiento y Nutrición-Gastronomía360 (Entrepreneurship and Nutrition-Gastronomía360)
Las Emprendedoras del Chocolate (The Chocolate Entrepreneurs), Yaletsi Rosas and Jaismarys Machado; and the Emprendedoras Gastronómicas (Gastronomic Entrepreneurs), Oriana Salazar, and Ana Sifontes, prepared a tasting with products of their authorship as welcome gifts for the French diplomatic corps, allies, and special guests.
The day began with a guided tour of the facilities of the house; then the attendees enjoyed the performance of the dance troupe Danzas Carúpano. Afterward, the ambassador presented the children of the community with books, clothes, food, and school supplies, the fruit of collections organized by the French Community in Caracas.
The ambassador, in addition to delighting in the preparations, such as dogfish empanadas and Catalan fish tartlets, also listened to the testimonies of the graduates about their profitable educational experiences through the programs that have allowed them to develop new skills, find a professional mission, and support the economic situation of their families, also reinforcing emotional ties with family and friends.
“I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your collaboration and I encourage you to continue supporting these social programs since they allow those people who really want to continue learning and with a desire to improve… to contribute their grain of sand to change and improve the situation of this country,” said entrepreneur Oriana Salazar at the meeting.
For his part, the ambassador expressed his admiration for the graduates due to their great work in the gastronomic area, as well as in health, education, and technology. He also expressed his satisfaction with the social work of Trabajo y Persona:
“For us, it is a great satisfaction to see that the grant given by the European Union is well used and I can say that we will continue to support Trabajo y Persona… we were able to verify that it is an association of great quality, of great efficiency, which is a driving force for social inclusion in Venezuela in its field”.
The guests of the visit were: Monsignor Jaime Villarroel, bishop of the Diocese of Carúpano; Father Jesús Villarroel, director of Caritas Carúpano; José Ramón Fernández, diocesan coordinator of Caritas Carúpano; Dr. Manuel González, coordinator of the Caritas Volunteer Medical Team; Lineth Rosario, coordinator of the Emprendimiento y Nutrición-Gastronomía360 (Entrepreneurship and Nutrition program – Gastronomía360), and María del Rosario León, coordinator of the Venezuela Tierra de Cacao program.
It is expected that this meeting will strengthen the cooperation ties between Trabajo y Persona and the French Embassy, in order to increase the scope of these projects that train Venezuelan women in trades.
